I would have expected a little more life-wisdom to be embedded in a novel by Catherine Ingram, but while light in that department, this book does peripherally touch upon some thought-provoking themes, including death and loss. It was a no brainer for her because taking a position with the TRPB would allow her to have the best of both worlds. Avery himself is a little too perfect to be true, but this turns out to be an interesting plot point later.
