be facing. If I only help one person, the hard work of writing this book will be worth it. -John David Stamps John Stamps is a survivor. In 1995, he and his wife filed for federal bankruptcy and lost their home, business and all their worldly possessions, except for a few household furnishings. In 1998, they lost a son to suicide. In 1999, John s wife developed a congested heart problem and almost died. In 2002 John became a target of a three-year federal investigation into some political activities. In 2005, he was indicted, pleaded guilty and sentenced to two years in a federal prison for income tax evasion and making a false statement while trying to get a federal contract renewal. A few days before he was to report to prison, his wife died in bed next to him of a heart attack. The authorities accused him of the possibility of killing his wife and ordered an autopsy. He was supposed to report to prison four days after his wife died, but the judge granted him a thirty-day extension to put his house in order before reporting to prison on October 20, 2005. John Stamps stated in a news conference, I ve been dealt this hand and I will deal with the hand.
